ELOPEMENT, TRAVEL

Vows, Vegas, and a Very Sure Thing.

filed in:

There’s something magical about a Las Vegas elopement—the spontaneity, the sparkle, the feeling that anything can happen. For Sarah and Dillon, their day was the perfect mix of retro charm, heartfelt moments, and just the right amount of adventure.

They began their elopement day in true downtown Vegas style, getting ready at their hotel nestled in the heart of Old Downtown Las Vegas. The room buzzed with excitement as they zipped up, buttoned down, and took those deep, quiet breaths before everything changed.

A Ceremony at Sure Thing Chapel

From the moment we arrived at Sure Thing Chapel, it felt like stepping into a love story that had been waiting to unfold. The chapel’s signature retro aesthetic and warm, welcoming atmosphere made it the perfect spot for Sarah and Dillon to say “I do” in front of their closest family and friends.

The ceremony was sweet and intimate—filled with genuine laughter, a few tears, and so much joy. After their first kiss as newlyweds, everyone spilled out to enjoy glasses of wine (which also had a NA option, as a sober girly, that’s much appreciated !) served from the charming wine hurse, a mobile bar that brought a perfect mix of whimsy and celebration.

While their guests mingled outside, we stayed behind with Sarah and Dillon for portraits inside the chapel. This is where the real magic happened behind the lens.

Capturing the Day: Digital, 35mm Film & Super 8

For their wedding day, we blended digital, 35mm film, and Super 8 video to capture every moment with intention and texture.

  • Digital photos gave us crisp, true-to-color images of every candid laugh and kiss.
  • 35mm film added a timeless, grainy softness to their ceremony and portraits—images that felt like memories the second they were captured.
  • And their Super 8 highlight film? Pure nostalgia. It flickers with sunlight, emotion, and that unmistakable vintage Vegas magic.

Each format told their story in a different voice, and together, they created a wedding gallery that feels as multi-dimensional as the day itself.

Pizza, Desert mountain views & a Night to Remember

After the chapel, Sarah and Dillon wanted to keep things fun and relaxed. We made a quick stop at the ever-iconic Evel Pie, where they shared a slice, sipped drinks, and soaked up some of that classic Fremont Street energy.

Then, before dinner, we drove out to a nearby desert dry lake bed for one of the dreamiest portrait sessions ever. With the open sky overhead and the soft desert breeze around us, they danced, laughed, and soaked in the beautiful desert mountain views.

To end the night, the newlyweds and their loved ones gathered for a cozy, delicious dinner at 7th & Carson. With laughter, cake, and beautiful golden hour light, they toasted to love, adventure, and their perfect Vegas beginning.

Hi, I’m Heidi—North Carolina-based photographer drawn to the quiet in-between. I document intimate weddings and elopements with a balance of softness and structure, capturing real moments with an editorial eye. To me, photography is a form of preservation: a way to slow time, to witness love in its rawest, most beautiful form.

Editorial, documentary, intuitive art for the moments you’ll feel
